A Bioinventory of McIntyre Ranch
1996
In 1996, the Provincial Museum of Alberta published Natural History Occasional Paper No. 22 – A Bioinventory of McIntyre Ranch: An Extensive Fescue-Dominated Grassland in Southern Alberta. Edited by W. B. McGillivray and M. Steinhilber, the field-work for this project began in 1990 and concluded in 1993. The efforts produced a one hundred and sixteen page document addressing the vegetation and flora, the aculeate wasps (with the exception of the Formicidae), butterflies, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, summer birds and mammals of the McIntyre Ranch.
Permission was given for this project to proceed as it was believed doing so would not only contribute valuable information to the natural history of the province but also add in defining the relative significance of the McIntyre Ranch. We are proud to assist with projects of this nature as we recognize the positive contribution they make to our society. Places such as this are far and few between.
